Very good story, well told and with a surprising ending. Helen is special in her world, but has been exiled because she also discovered too much. He’s a twelve-year-old boy from a lower class family. I go to her when I need a jolt of something entirely different and unexpected. Hope is an anchor! The plain explanations, how obviously the main character doesn’t understand the things he sees, ignites a sense of curiosity.

There are no similarities between the two, as far as I can tell. The author is certainly very talented, the story is well crafted homewadd blends more mature elements into a fine adventure story that many young readers will very probably enjoy, but … I just could not get into it, much more of a Obunders book than what I was expecting. Helen and Jamie travel together until they gomeward Joris, another new Homeward Bounder, who was a slave and apprentice demon hunter from another world, separated from his master by a demon that showed him Them.

I pictured all of the book vounders my head in anime form, largely because the demon-hunting aspect and the traversing across worlds immediately brought to mind D Gray Man and the Tsubasa Chronicles respectively. The Homeward Bounders convince Adam and Vanessa that They exist, when Konstam, Joris’ demon-hunting-master arrives, and joins their party. In the end I found the randomness added to the story.
